FMD - Planning & Design

University Planning provides planning support to the University and MCV Hospital organizations in the development, evaluation, and justification of facility needs and projects.  Primary services include:

• Coordinate Facilities Management support with the University's Master Site Plan implementation and planning.

• Assist Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, and Department Heads in determining project needs regarding scope, schedules, and preliminary cost; and articulate those needs through an approved Facilities Development Plan.

• Assist Real Estate and Foundation Services in evaluating property acquisition opportunities in terms of needs and uses.

• Provide liaison services to the State Council of Higher Education (SCHEV) and the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget on space inventory and utilization issues, and program justification for all capital projects.

• Maintain drawings and plans for facilities and provide for their use as needed by project managers and other University personnel.
